The Aquarium

On Saturday, Jeff and I ventured to the Aquarium in Darling Harbor. We took the ferry in again (which I LOVE!) and we had a blast!

This thing is called a Dugong - kind of like a manatee. Jeff loved them!

We love the Darling Harbor area and will for sure be back!

Why am I up before 7 AM on a Sunday morning? Because it's College Football Saturday back home. From what I can tell online sloppy game but I will take the win with Boise State and that awful blue field coming up next week.

ESPN - your GameCast feature does not work well for those of us in the southern hemisphere. Please break Fox Sports' monopoly of Australia.

Sports, sports, and more sports

For a huge sports fan Australia is a great country because all day, every day there is some type of professional sports on TV.

Rugby is over for the season (Go Eels!) but there is a huge variety in the summer...


I know soccer is not as big here as in Europe or other countries but we do plan on seeing some Syndey FC games.



Last night I watched a combination Gaelic Rules / Aussie Rules football game between Ireland and Australia. They kicked the ball, they threw the ball (which was round like a soccer ball), they tackled each other, but mostly they just fought. AWESOME!


Been watching some lawn bowling between Australia and South Africa...it's really funny listening to the commentators try and make this game sound exciting.


And right now I'm sitting here watching Day 3 of a Pakistan versus Sri Lanka cricket match (don't worry I did not watch Day 1 or 2)...and you know what? I have absolutely no idea what the point of this game is. They throw a big raquet ball at a guy in hockey pads who then tries to hit said ball with what looks like the paddle the pledges in Animal House got hazed with. Thank You Sir May I Have Another? I don't think so.

I'm here too.....

I know Ashley has been doing the majority of the blogging, but I'm here too. So I will be sending some updates as well, just so you don't all think we're on vacation.

Ashley is doing great as a "lady of leisure" as they say down here, but next week's posts will show that a lot of work is getting done here too!

Also, let's hope when we get home Ashley doesn't want a promotion from "lady" to duchess, or baroness of leisure...or worse princess....

Shopping Confusion...

So the past two days I have been traveling around the city looking for some unique shopping here in Australia. I went into Darling Harbor and after a stint or two of turning in circles, I found some spots.

My first concern - the prices. I went into the Nine West store since I knew the brand just to check things out. A pair of plain pumps that is normally $79 in the US was $139! I was a bit shocked.

The other concern - the sizing. Check out this chart I found.

So the sizes start at 8 and go to 18 and if I need to find my size, I have to know my measurements in cm. Dang - out of luck.

I will say there was a TON of trying on and I did find a few things.

Shoes were not part of it though.

Dinner with Friends!

Once we found out that we were coming to Australia, Jeff's uncle Alan told us of some of his friends who are still living here in Australia.

Last night we were able to meet up with Jenny and her husband Graham for dinner and drinks in Balmain. They live in a lovely neighborhood across Darling Harbor from Sydney.

They have a wonderful view of the water and we enjoyed spending time with them at their home and the local pub "William Wallace".

First Day of work

Yesterday was Jeff's first day of work and my first day on my own. It went really well.

Once Jeff left for work, I went for a run along the river in front of our place. Here is a picture during my run - so peaceful!

This is the Parramatta river and is one of the oldest cities is Australia. It has a great park, tons of restaurants and great shopping. I stay pretty busy!
